      Medium & large stickers

The following method can be used for any size sticker, but is particularly useful for medium and large stickers. Small stickers can be installed in a slightly different, but quicker way. See here for fitting small decals. Step 1. is the MOST IMPORTANT part of fitting any sticker. Just like painting, It’s all in the prep!

      1.
CLEAN the surface with rubbing alcohol or water with a little dish soap. Ensure the surface is COMPLETLY DRY before proceeding.
      2.
Masking tape both ends of the sticker in place. You can use a measuring tape to centre the decal. Place a final piece of tape down the middle.
      3.
Tear/cut one of the end pieces of tape and flip half of the sticker over. Peel half of the backing paper away from the transfer film to reveal the adhesive. Then trim/tear the excess backing paper and discard it.
      4.
Flip the sticker back around and use the masking tape guides to align the first side of the sticker into the desired position.
      5.
Using a plastic squeegee or credit card, apply firm pressure to stick the decal to the surface. Work from the centre outwards.
      6.
Remove the middle strip of masking tape then tear/cut the tape on the other side. Flip the remaining side of the sticker over. Peel the backing paper away and discard it.
      7.
Flip the sticker back around and use the masking tape guides to align the second side of the sticker into the desired position.
      8.
Using a plastic squeegee or credit card, apply firm pressure across the second half of the sticker. Work from the centre outwards.
      9.
Remove the transfer film and any masking tape guides. Try to peel the transfer film off at a low angle close to the sticker itself.
      10.
Grab a beer, sit back and appreciate all of your hard work.

      Small stickers

The above method of fitting can be used to fit small decals too. However, for small decals you can skip a couple of steps if you follow the guide below instead. Remember, Step 1. is the MOST IMPORTANT part of fitting any sticker.

      3.
Place a final piece of tape down one edge of the sticker when it is in the desired position. This will be the hinge.
      4.
Tear/cut the end piece of tape opposite the hinge. Flip the sticker over. Peel all of the backing paper away from transfer film to reveal the adhesive. Then discard the backing paper.
      5.
Flip the sticker back around and use the masking tape guide to align the sticker into the desired position.
      6.
Using a plastic squeegee or credit card, apply firm pressure to stick the decal to the surface. Work from the centre outwards.
      7.
Remove the transfer film and any masking tape guides. Try to peel the transfer film off at a low angle close to the sticker itself.
      8.
Grab a beer, sit back and appreciate all of your hard work.

      Sunstrips & very large stickers

We recommend fitting sunstrips and very large decals with the same method shown at the top of this page. However as these are very large it can be easier to hold and fit with two people.

All of our stickers can be fitted wet but this can be particularly useful for sunstrips and very large stickers. Simply mix a couple of drops of dish soap with water, then spray the adhesive side of the decal. Position it, and using a plastic squeegee or credit card* apply firm pressure from the centre outwards to remove all water. *If using a credit card to apply a sunstrip, you should wrap the card in a microfibre cloth to prevent scratching the sunstrip.

If the decal or sunstrip is not adhering to the surface you will need to check all water is pressed out and leave it for some time to bond before attempting to remove any transfer films or driving with the sunstrip installed. You may even need to allow some time to pass before you can trim up the edges of the sunstrip.

      Additional information

      Fitting temperature

Room temperature is ideal for applying decals. It is not recommended to apply stickers in cold conditions or onto cold surfaces. Avoid applying stickers in temperatures below 10Β°C.

If you must apply them outdoors or in cooler temperatures, try to work in direct sunlight. Alternatively, you can gently heat the surface beforehand using a heat gun or hairdryer. Heating the decal again just before removing the transfer film can greatly improve adhesion and ensure the transfer film peels away cleanly

      Creases & bubbles

Creases and wrinkles in the transfer film may appear when stickers are shipped in a tube, but these will not be visible once the sticker is applied correctly. To avoid trapping wrinkles, always apply the sticker starting from the centre and working outward.

If you encounter creases during application, gently heat the area using a heat gun or hair dryer. Carefully lift the vinyl where the crease has formed, apply a bit of heat to relax the vinyl back to its original state, and then reapply the sticker.”

Smaller bubbles of trapped air will naturally disappear over time. For larger bubbles, we recommend piercing the bubble with a brand new blade from a snap off / exacto knife. (be careful when handling sharp knives.)

Decal stuck to backing paper / will not peel with transfer film

Reapply the transfer film and press firmly over the decal to ensure it adheres to the transfer film. Then, remove the backing paper from the sticker. If possible, lay the sticker face down and peel the backing paper away from the transfer film, rather than lifting the transfer film away from the backing paper.

Heating the decal using a heat gun or hair dryer just before removing the transfer film can greatly improve adhesion and allow for a cleaner peel.

What you can stick our stickers to

Our stickers will adhere to any smooth, painted surface or thoroughly cleaned glass that is free from dust, dirt, grime, and grease. Examples include smooth walls, windows, toolboxes, cars, tractors, trucks, or panels.

Our stickers are not suitable for textured surfaces, including textured or wallpapered walls, rusted surfaces, peeling lacquer, or other damaged paint. Textured and some bare unpainted plastics are also not suitable for our stickers.

      Freshly painted surfaces

For freshly painted surfaces, we recommend waiting 4 weeks before applying decals. While the paint may feel dry to the touch sooner, the curing process can take several weeks. Applying decals too early may result in large bubbles as the paint releases gas and could make it difficult to remove the decal without damaging the paint.

It is not recommended to apply stickers to poorly prepared paint. Even if the paint is fully cured, a low-quality paint job or improperly prepared surface may cause the decal to pull the paint off when removed.
